GKN Aerospace has applied its knowledge of the requirements of OEMs and airlines in creating its Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and 24-hour AOG services to provide customers with the agility, skills and speed of service to keep fleets flying.

Aftermarket support is delivered by a network of centres which specialise in key services such as aerostructures and engine component repair. Facilities focusing on metallic and composite structural and component repair provide manufacturers and operators with a ‘one-stop shop’ high-performance centre for repair or replacement of airframe, aero-engine structures and transparencies including radomes, nacelles, fan blades, windows, cockpits and de-icing systems. Our facilities support a wide range of products and build on our strong position in the MRO sector. GKN Aerospace’s fan-blade overhaul site based at El Cajon in California maintains or repairs over 50,000 fan blades a year from a wide range of operators and OEMs, and our transparency facilities service the demands of major manufacturers and operators including regional and mainstream airlines.

We continue to develop and invest in new technologies to deliver efficient, fast and low-cost repairs, utilising the ‘hot bond box’. The technique enables the fast, high-quality repair of composite components including repairing damage on large items such as an entire winglet or complete flying surface.

GKN Aerospace’s international supply chain capability has been expanded through investment and expansion of our distribution network. It backs our aftermarket service with the provision of spares and materials where required so customers have rapid access to an inventory of key assets that are available across the world. The expansion of our supply chain enables customers to reduce their equipment stock to cut cost of ownership and access highly efficient, worldwide maintenance and support.
