GKN Aerospace is a leading supplier of integrated propulsion systems in both military and civil sectors. Expertise includes the full design, certification, manufacturing and testing of integrated nacelle, EBU and thrust reverser systems. We are also specialists in the manufacture of major components in metallic and carbon using both conventional and proprietary production processes to deliver components that are lighter, have fewer parts and require less maintenance.
GKN Aerospace’s expertise spans the production of components from individual to integrated systems including inner fixed structures, fan cowl doors, thrust reverser systems, air intake systems, fan ducts, tailcone APU bays, engine mounts, engine pylons and acoustic liners. GKN Aerospace is a leading provider of propulsion systems (including design, build and integration) in the turbofan market with customers such as Honeywell for whom we produce the nacelle for the HTF7000. This design, certification and production program now provides the nacelle for the Bombardier's Challenger 300 and we also supply nacelles to the Embraer MLJ and MSJ business jets and Gulfstream platforms. Alongside our expertise in turbofans, GKN Aerospace is one of the world’s leading turboprop nacelle providers, undertaking the design, development and manufacture of the Lockheed Martin C-130J, the Alenia C-27J and the Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 nacelles.
GKN Aerospace’s innovation program is governed by the requirement to deliver practical solutions to customers’ technical challenges. A good example of this focus in action is our work to support engine manufacturers in reducing noise. We have developed an innovative all-composite one piece acoustic liner. Built from a honeycomb all-composite structure, the design cuts engine noise by up to 4dB. It also reduces weight to deliver valuable performance benefits.
